ABOUT YLLÄS AREA

The Berrystay cabin is located in Äkäslompolo northern village of Ylläs, Lapland Finland.

​

Ylläs is the name of the biggest of seven fells (Arctic hills) in the area​ and also used as the name of the area and one of Finlands most popular outdoor destinations. North of Ylläs is Äkäslompolo village and south of is Ylläsjärvi village. The area host a large area for downhill skiing (two connected ski resorts with same ski pass) and also 330 km of cross country skiing track system. Next to Ylläs fell is the entrance of Pallas-Yllästunturi National park. A great area for hikig, biking, berrypicking, mushroom picking, skiing and watching the Aurora Borealis - Northern Lights. Äkäslompolo is a small village with long history of hospitality.
